A passion for collecting is the basis of the exhibition at the Urzeithof, with exhibits that have been and are being collected from all over the world.
In her early childhood days, Katrin roamed the fields around her then home in Fehrenbötel with a wheelbarrow, looking for fossils and already dreaming of her own museum.
Many active collectors and institutions support the project by donating exhibits, showcases and important equipment, such as stereo microscopes, compressed air tools or archiving cabinets.
A team of volunteers was formed and the children's preparation table at the fair Mineralientage Hamburg as well as cooperations, such as with the school Trappenkamp, the GEO-AG at the University of Kiel and many others, promoted the educational claim.
Soon the location Fehrenbötel proved to be no longer suitable, especially since the exhibition on the upper floor was only accessible via stairs and the exhibits in the showcases shook as soon as a tractor or truck drove over the cobblestones in front of the barn.
In 2018, the opportunity arose to acquire the site in Stolpe, where the museum and a farm café have been located since June 22, 2019.
